Alan Lomax

George M. Eberhart interviewed Nathan Salzburg and me for American Libraries magazine: “The Legacy of Alan Lomax.” We’ll be at the Old Town School of Folk Music on Wednesday, 4 November 2015, 7:30 pm, for the Chicago Humanities Festival event Citizen Folklorist: Alan Lomax’s Musical Journeys.

Nathan will be sharing materials from the Lomax archive, Old Town School of Folk Music Resource Center archivist Colby Maddox will be on hand, and Fruteland Jackson will be performing.

As a college intern, I worked for Alan, helping to transfer his massive audio archive to DAT (Digital Audio Tape, remember those?), so it is an honor to get to participate in this special event with these talented folks. We will investigate Lomax’s legacy as a folk music media activist and, of course, sing a little bit. Hope to see you there.
