#77 - Love Jones Phair Crow
Why are female rockers always paired? Last year it was Courtney Love and Norah Jones, whose respective albums, America's Sweetheart and Feels Like Home were compared in many a CD review. That was set up by reviewers as a bizarre Whore-Madonna tandem.
This year it's Liz Phair and Sheryl Crow, who reviewers are forcing into the ring for a who-can-sex-up-her-30s-more-blandly cat fight.
Are these comparisons useful? Or are they just another way of rephrasing old dichotomies?
