#185 - The Rap on Indie, The Indie on Rap

We hate dance and we hate rap
But we like to contradict ourselves
And that's a rap!

The Moldy Peaches, "On Top"

The Moldy Peaches rap over a riff taken from the Clash's cover of Bobby Fuller Four's cover of Sonny Curtis and the Crickets' "I Fought the Law," making a connection between punk, rock 'n' roll, country, rhythm 'n' blues, hip-hop, and their own lo-fi sound.

Borrowings of borrowings of borrowings later, contradictions abound, the rhythm kicks in, and energy gets generated.
